T3W3 Journal Writing : Effects of Preventive Measures on Pupils

Hi Everyone,

Since we returned to school two weeks ago, we had to take our temperature twice a day. Some of the pupils could not return to school because they were on leave of absence. Our remedial, CCA and other activities have been cancelled or postponed.

In this week's reflection, I would like you to discuss how all these have affected you. I have listed some questions below to help you with your reflection:

1. What do you think of the school's preventive measures for H1N1 such as temperature-taking, no assembly in the hall, cancellation of remedial lessons, CCA and other activities?

2. Which activities have affected you?

3. How has the cancellation of these activities affect you in your learning?

4. Do you think the school is less interesting now? Why?

5. Are you relationship with your friends and teachers affected? If 'yes', in what way/s?

6. What do you do with the extra time you have now?

7. Are you activities outside school affected?

I hope to read your reflection soon.
Start writing immediately.

Mr Ng

My Reflections.

I think that it is good to stop the remedial classes , CCA and other classes. We should break the virus chain so that we would not have more H1N1 cases. Now, none of the activities have affected me.

Remedial classes have been cancelled because we have to prevent the spread of H1N1 but we cannot learn many new things. I dont think the school is less interesting because the school keeps us occupied and it does not make us feel bored.

No. With the extra time, I hang out with friends or do some revision work. Activities that are done outside school does not affect me.

Hanna.

Influenza A H1N1 is a disease spreading worldwide.
It spreads from people in different countries then on and on to the next country.
Countries like Hong Kong , Mexico, Canada, Coasta Rica, Australia. Of course there are more then that.
About 33 countries comfirmed that their people contracted H1N1.

They should keep away from crowded places, practice more hygiene.Yes. It helps us to make sure that we are not having fever or should we have fever, it is not at the trigger point.
We should wash our hands after using the toilet, sneeze into a tissues paper, and wearing a mask.
I am going to do things that keep me healthy and strong so that I can prevent the disease from spreading to me.

Hello I am Hanna.

Here are my answers for this post:

Classroom cleanliness.

I think that keeping our surrounding clean is important because insects like lizards and cockroaches may be having a good time there. We should keep the place clean and tidy to prevent pests from coming.

My classroom is untidy and needs improvement. My classroom floor is always filled with papers , tissuses and even worksheets! Sometimes, when this happens , a teacher of another class will come in and teach us a lesson about cleanliness. Keeping the classroom clean is the class 's respondsibility. We should clean the classroom, sweep the floors, and pick up litters we find in the class.

I keep my classroom clean by picking up pieces of papers under the chairs , tables or on the floor.
This way, the classroom will be litter-free! I participate in cleaning the whiteboard. Sometimes , when the teacher finish teaching chinese , my friends and i will take turns to clean the whiteboard.

I learnt that being clean is important . It applies to our everyday life too! I think i learnt Self-Discipline in this activity. We must have self- discipline so that we can improve in our school, life and work!

T2 W6 Journal Writing : Kindness

Hi Everyone,
The Singapore Kindness Movement has designated April as the month of kindness. Well, we are coming to the end of April. What acts of kindness have you done?

For this week, I would like you to reflect on 'kindness'.
To get some ideas, you might want to visit the website of the Singapore Kindness Movement at :http://kindness.sg/

Here are some questions to help you get your journal writing going:

1. What do you mean by 'kindness'?

2. Is it important for people to be kind? Why?

3. How can people show their kindness?

4. Could you describe an act of kindness which you have done?

5. How did you feel after doing that act of kindness?

6. What other act/s of kindness would you like to do either in school, at home or in the community?

7. How can you yourself promote the message of kindness to your friends?

I am looking forward to reading your reflection.

Bye!
Mr Ng

Hanna. :P

I think kindness is a kind of act that shows people that we are willing to help them or even thank them for something they did. I think it is important for one to be kind because when we do something nice, good things come to us.People can show their kindness by helping one another. I helped an old lady into the lift as she is weak so i decided to help her otherwise she would fall and injured herself. I felt great because i done a good deed! I would help my mother do house work so she will not be so busy.I think I can advise them to help others.

Hanna. :d

Earth Day is very important to me because it is a day to save our planet."Save The Earth" means that we can do many things to save our earth. We can save electricity by switching off everything in our house for an hour or so to save our earth. It is really important to recycle, reuse and reduce.By doing this, we can save trees and plants. If we don't , the trees around us will soon disappear.I think I will save the earth by cutting down the amount of electricity I use to play games and watch television. My family and I will save the earth by switching off everything in my house for 2 hours.

T2 W3 Journal Writing: Improving the School

Hi Everyone,

Last week, Mrs Nam spoke about the loss of things during CCA in the school. She invited the CCA leaders to come up with suggestions to solve the problem. For this week, I would like everyone to think of ways of improving our school. This could be the improvement in physical facilities such as the field, toilets, classroom, canteen, library, art room, computer lab and other facilities or the people who provided services to you such as the office personnel, teachers, book shop lady, school bus drivers and even the cleaners. In short, you can think of any aspects of the school that needs to improve so that the lives of pupils will be better. To help you, I have listed some questions below:

1. Which aspect/s of the school do you like very much? Why?
2. Which aspect/s of the school do you think you dislike? Why?
3. What do you think can be done to improve it/them?
4. What other areas of the school should be improved?
5. How can pupils help in the improvement of the school?

These questions are just a guide to help you start writing. You are free to to give your own opinions and suggestions..

I hope to read your suggestions soon.
Mr Ng

We can help by not littering in the area.

I am Hanna.

I think we celebrate this event because we want to mark this day.
Friendship is something we should .
I do not know much about it but i celebrate it.

ASEAN means Association of South East Asian Nations.
I know a little about ASEAN.
ASEAN is about building a closer relationship with its member states.

Yes, I like events organised by the school because they are fun and interesting.
I don't have any friends in the ASEAN but if i get a chance to interact with them, I think it would be fun!

We could organise games and activities to develop friendship with the ASEAN countries.
